Parents of pupils in Years 3-6 thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to view their children’s creative outpourings in two art exhibitions this term. The work, created during the Michaelmas and Lent terms was very varied, taking its inspiration from Van Gogh, Paul Klee and MC Escher to name just a few!
The impact of the visit from Art Lecturer Anthony Slinn was evident. Year 6 took the painting ‘Starry Night’ as a starting point to produce some striking oil pastels and miniature collages, while Year 3 tried their hands at a self portrait using water colour crayons.
Year 4 and 5 admired their art and DT work on January 15th. Year 5 had worked all term producing stunning work based on Paul Klee’s painting The Golden Fish. This included an unusual collage of fish made from photocopies of hands, water colours of a coral reef and beautiful fantasy fish tiles.

Year 4 had been busy illustrating poems, “Tiger Tiger” by William Blake and “The Jaguar” by Ted Hughes. They had produced some beautiful work using a wax resist technique and pencil shading. They had also been busy in DT designing and making decorative photograph frames.
